Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment

Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment (ILFE) was founded in 1958. Since then our work as a research organization is focused on fundamental research and applied research that seeks to solve practical problems in the fields of forestry and environment.

Until now, we have realized numerous projects related to the silviculture and sustainable forest management of various forest tree species, conservation and management of forest genetic resources, projects on the establishment of protective greenery, rehabilitation of degraded forest lands, forest protection, forest management plans, etc.

ILFE has 35 employees from which 18 PhDs in different disciplines (forestry, horticulture, biology, biochemistry, ecology, economies, law and geoinformatics). ILFE has long tradition in establishing new forest areas (since its founding) and during NATESS project our team will create sensory garden and health path in the frame of Forest Selfness Center in Šatrinci. In this way, visitors of the Centre will have the opportunity to improve their wellbeing and general health.
